Aquatica

I'm so excited to show you these nails I just did! While thinking of a name for them I was like, "Whats the cheesiest name for a underwater place?" and I came up with aquatica. So when I went to work and showed my friend, I told her what I called them she was like "oh! I've been there!" Lo and behold Aquatica is actually the name of the water park at SeaWorld. So I felt a little dumb. One already got a little chipped but you get the idea I was going for. Well I had a lot of fun making these nails and I hope you'll enjoy them.

Amazing

So I've found so many cool things for nails, like I learned how to make my own nail art stickers. Its that amazing?! I don't know if you follow nail polish collections but have you seen the China Glaze metallic crackel polishes? I want to try them so bad becaue I love my crackels I got from them, and I LOVE metallic things. I suppose I have a fondness for looking like a robot :) Okay so like I said in the last post I've been doing alot of nails, but I just haven't been getting pictures of them before I ruin them the next day at work. So as soon as I painted these last few times I took a picture of them with my ipod. I'm sorry for the horrible picture quality, the new touch has a HD video camera, but not a HD picture camera. Which I find weird and a little upsetting. Well I'm going to make a break for it, I hope you enjoy these nails I did as much as I did :)

Sorry!

It's been forever since I last posted anything and I feel horrible for that so please forgive me. Its funny because I've probably done around 30 to 40 nails (Mine and other peoples nail included) since I last posted so you would think I have a ton of pictures but alas no. I'm actually probably going to take a picture of all my nail gear tomorrow and then post that up along with maybe another nail design picture. Well I gotta run, sorry its short!
Love always, Aly

Mothers Day

I don't know if all the other countrys have holidays dedicated to Mom's but here in America we do. Aren't mom's the greatest people in the world? They do so much and get so little in return and are just so amazing and wonderful in everyway! I love my mom dearly, she's the best person in the world :) This mothers day, go tell your mom how much you love her and just let her know the little things she does for you don't go unnoticed.

I came up with 2 new looks during our time apart and I really like the purple star one the best by far. So the first one has the base gold coat as Orly Luxe, which is so amazing! I was thinking it looked alot like a Minx nail and thats why I bought it in the first place. It's not as chrome as the minx, its just super small soft-gold foil/glitter that comes on perfectly in about one coat. I then used Sally Hansen's white tip nail polish with the bundle monster stamping plates. And the silver stripe is just the L.A. nails silver glitter Art Deco. I liked it, my friend said it would be great around christmas. I was actually intending it for the royal wedding but, I kinda have to agree it makes me think a little of christmas.

The second one just emerged from luck, I wanted a cool base coat color so I picked a Sinful Colors polish (I don't recall the name but its a light purple with a duo-color thing going on.) and I decided that was a little too plain so I fought with myself about whether I should put some China Glaze Crackel Fault line on top or glitter. And as you'll soon understand that of course I chose the glitter. So I picked out Party of Five by Wet n' Wild. And then I decided to stamp some Orly Luxe ontop of that. I think they turned out pretty sweet for having no battle plan set out before painting them.

Well folks that's all I got for today, I may stay up late and do something new for tomorrow seeing as how its only 1 in the morning right now and I'm not even close to being tired :)

Sincerely,

Aly :)

A Day Off

It's been awesome to finally get a day off from everything! Granted I still have work later today, but I love work so thats not a problem. So today I went with a nail design with the oblique line in black that I just love so much over a pink that I've been dieing to use. The pink I got from Forever 21 and the black is called 'ebony hates chris' and its from the wet and wild line. Then the gold color of the stamp is Luxe from Orly. I really like these nails and I hope they last Easter weekend, if not then I guess I'll just repaint them tomorrow and you'll get a post a lot sooner!
I'm sorry that I didn't clean them off any more then I did, but when I took this picture they were still in the drying phase and I didn't want to accidentally ruin them!

Sincerely, Aly :)

Worst Time of the Year (Not really but kind of...)

Spring, what a beautiful time of year. All the lawns come back greener then ever, everyone becomes less grumpy, cold food becomes more appitizing and of course my eyes revolt and go on strike because of the blossoming trees. I've yet for them to react as badly as they did last year, (it was awful!) but I also have been avoiding blossoming trees like a rabbit avoids a wolf. I purposly walk on different sides of the road just so I don't have to walk underneath them and let the pollen fall on me. The weird thing is I was never allergic to pollen untill I went up to a summer camp about 6 years ago and everything just went down hill.

I'm actually pretty upset about my allergies because I love being near flowering trees, I just feel they're so serene. I planned one day on going to japan during their spring and just seeing their cherry tree's in full bloom, but after the catastropic events that have happened there I'm not sure if I'll be going there in the near future. But because I love blossoms so much I decided to try again at cherry blossom nails and I have to say they turned out pretty darn cute! I got the idea from someones video on youtube. I loved how she did hers and so I tried to get mine as close to hers as possible but mine are no-where near as professional as hers were but all well, I'm still learning :)

Well I'm off to cause some havoc with my allergies ;)

Sincerly, Aly :)

Mind Over Load

For just starting this obsession with polish in November 2010 I would like to think I've learned a lot for just a beginner. It shocks me how many cool different nail polishes there are!!! For those of you just as lost as me let me give you some advice that will help you dig up the treasures the nail world has to offer. So there's different types of polish as you hopefully know; glitters, shimmers, mattes. Those are just the basics. So the ones I've been lucky enough to stumble upon of late are called 'Flakies', 'Holos', and 'Magnetics'. These polishes are so amazing! I've been searching day and night online through my favorite brands here in the US to try and find these types of polishes and my work payed off. China Glaze has some holos, and Sally Hansen has something like a Flakie top coat called 'Hidden Treasure'. Now for the coolest of them all the Magnetics I couldn't find any in America. Over in Europe they have a brand called Alessandro that is a magnetic and from reviews seems to work great. Lancome had one but the discontinued it as well as Loreal. The only one that I think could be sold in stores in America is the Essence Metallics and I'm not even sure about that. I think I have the general idea of how the metallics work so I may just be a little risky and try to recreate one ;) I think all the information I've given right now is correct but if it's not then tell me so I won't make the mistake again. So I did get one picture of my nails before I chipped them to pieces out of boredom. I saw someone on youtube do these nails and I just loved them so I chose slightly different colors and just followed what she did. I got a ton of compliments with these nails and I just loved looking at them. These nails took me quite some time to do though because my right hand is still shaky when it comes to dotting and lines. (I'm a lefty:) I think the video was called art deco or something close to that. I also did cute little nail splatters on my friends nails last weekend but she's just as bad as me and chipped it off in not even a day so I had no hope of getting a picture of them! I'm sorry my hand is so dirty, I'm constantly painting my friends nails and have sort've given up on trying to wash the polish off my hands. I feel as though with nails I've found out what I want to do for the rest of my life. I plan on going to nail tech. school and college so I can start on acrylics and learning all of the proper techniques and just learn the basics of nail care and then get my associates. From that point after working in a Salon for a few years and getting my degree if I decide its not for me then at least I'll still be able to do my nails forever-amounts better then I would've before going to school for the rest of my life. I was one of the weird kids and actually really liked chemistry so maybe if I decide to keep in the nail world just not the salon part of it I could always become a scientist that makes awesome new nail colors right? Sincerly, Aly :)
